1.  Computers in Printing & Packaging Lab:

This lab helps students getting aware of advanced Computer Technology which helps prepress department in creating originals which further is to be reproduced on any suitable printing process. This lab helps the students in project work and to know about the latest trends and technologies going on in field of Prepress and Package design. The students are trained on Adobe Photoshop, Corel Draw, Adobe Page-maker and other DTP software with their latest versions.

2.  Basics of Printing Process Lab:

Printing is a process for reproducing text and images, typically with ink on paper using a printing process. It is often carried out as a large-scale industrial process, and is an essential part of publishing and transaction printing. This lab helps the students acquiring knowledge regarding the method adopted by a system to transfer the image on to a substrate (material). This also means that a printing system will have a medium that carries the image in the first place before it enables the process of reproduction. Getting this printing surface prepared is dependent on the printing process. Over the years, many different ways of putting ink on paper developed and these evolved to be the printing processes.

3.  Gravure Lab:

Gravure is another direct printing process, like letterpress with, however some major differences. The image is directly transferred from the image carrier, which is usually a cylinder, onto the substrate. Gravure is called intaglio because the image areas are in a sunken area and the non-image areas are in relief. This must sound like an exact opposite of the letterpress process. In a way, that is true.

4.  Image Carrier for Printing Process Lab:

To successfully complete a print job, large or small, several steps are needed to organize, plan, design and print. No matter how large or small the customer may be, the process is similar. Preparation of image carrier in any printing process is the primary step to be taken care while going for any graphic print production. It includes preparing offset printing plates, gravure cylinders, flexographic resilient plates and forming screen stencils.

5.  Quality Control Lab:

Quality Control has become must in every production industry to face market competition and acquiring new customers and printing and packaging is one of them. Quality control lab helps students gaining practical knowledge of Densitometer, Spectrophotometer, Paper testing instruments and ink testing instruments etc. Testing of incoming material, sampling, sampling plan, statistical tools, acceptance samples are integral tools of quality control to be used sideways for effective quality control plan. Still quality can’t be achieved by training of workers, buying expensive instruments and all. Quality is achieved by forming the quality thinking in all workers.
